CRH Culture
The latest news
‒ By Mike Williams –
If you are reading this, you are one of the reasons we are here today, CRH-Employee Owners! I thank you all and Teamshares for your patience, diligence, and trust in me so that we can make a difference. Take into account that this is only the beginning. When I walked in the door a year ago, I was on a mission to learn, engage, alleviate any burdens, and foster relationships with each of you.
Understanding everyone had their guards up due to an unspecified vision and reluctance to change. I reminisced on the first shop meeting and observed the energy in the room; if I had to gauge it on a meter, it was low. Therefore, my approach had to be like the elementary school carpet time "Show and tell.” I hope this year has shown each of you what transparency, motivation, and a healthy culture can do to an organization.
As I reflect on year one, you all hear me talk about being more efficient – and I revert to my measurements (Productivity, Cost, Mistakes, Deadlines, and Attitude). These measurements pave the way for how we operate as a business. If our service and install volume increase, we become more productive. Improving our inventory flow to ensure you have what you need on the job site prevents us from incurring unnecessary costs. If we get the job done right, it reduces mistakes., If we meet our customer's expectation, we meet our deadlines. We fail as a team if our attitude is not 100% dedicated, as that is a contributing factor to our success.
CRH EOs, I feel we have made tremendous strides and gains in the right direction. As a result, we all can affirm morale, trust, and accountability heighten. We increased the number of trucks on the road, more engaged in CRH's financial stability. New website and other technological changes, re-branding, coined May 12 Employee Appreciation Day, paid off the previous owner, personnel changes, incentive programs and most of all, the company issued dividends and buybacks to Employee-owners and Teamshares. Let’s finish the year off strong!
